On the Israel regime’s attack on the Embassy of Iran in Damascus

In continuation of its atrocities, the Israeli regime targeted the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus with missiles fired from its own F35 aircrafts on the evening of Monday, April 1, 2024.
Unfortunately, in this targeted attack on a recognized diplomatic venue, a number of military advisers from the Islamic Republic of Iran's anti-terrorism forces were martyred. These individuals, who enjoyed diplomatic immunity and were officially invited by the Syrian government to be present in the country, had gathered in the building to an iftar program during the blessed month of Ramadan.
Undoubtedly, this despicable attack, not only violates territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria, but also the immunity of diplomatic personnel and premises—notably the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus—and clearly violates international regulations, including the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the 1973 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, Including Diplomatic Agents, and the United Nations Charter. Hence, it is expected that governments and international bodies will express resentment against and strongly condemn this heinous act of aggression and violation of international law.
The Israeli regime has exhibited a willingness to employ all means necessary in its endeavor to achieve total control over Palestine, including the perpetration of atrocities such as the genocide of over 33,000 individuals, including more than 15,000 women and children, assaults on international relief workers, and attacks on diplomatic premises.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, while warning the international community regarding the adventurous activities of the illegitimate Israeli regime, including the criminally aggressive attack on diplomatic premises of the Islamic Republic of Iran, assesses such actions as contributing to the escalation of tensions in the region and beyond the occupied Palestinian territories. Responsibility for the consequences and repercussions of such actions will lie squarely upon this regime and its supporters.
The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its legitimate and inherent right, on the strength of international laws and the United Nations Charter, to respond decisively to such terrorist acts.
