Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Dutch counterpart Woke Hoekstra have held talks on the phone over issues of mutual interest.
Amirabdollahian referred to the 400 years of diplomatic relations between Iran and the Netherlands and underlined the need for the two countries to boost their cooperation and expand bilateral ties.
Amirabdollahian further criticized the Western countries over their double standards toward the issue of human rights and women's rights and their meddlesome policy toward Iran's internal issues. The Iranian foreign minister added the attempts by some Western authorities and circles to provoke the Iranian youth and women and their instrumental use of the media for this purpose was an unconstructive move in the realm of diplomacy, which escalated the violence and terrorist acts in Iran.
Amirabdollahian added that undoubtedly, the rioters and those behind the acts of terror and violence and the use of firearms and cold weapons against police and security in the society will be brought to justice.
In the telephone conversation, the Dutch foreign minister also pointed to the four centuries of good and historical relations between his country and Iran and the recent constructive talks between the foreign ministries of the two countries on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York. Hoekstra underlined the necessity of promoting consular relations to resolve the issues concerning the nationals of Iran and the Netherlands.
Hoekstra appreciated Amirabdollahian's positive view that the issues concerning a Dutch national need to be resolved and that talks and meetings to expand bilateral ties should continue.
