Briefing Report on The Assassination of Iranian Scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh
Iran reserves its rights to take all necessary measures to respond to the terrorist attack, and expects all countries to condemn this gross violation of international law and human rights law and to call, in an unequivocal terms, for the accountability of the perpetrators and culprits.
In Mid-Friday 27 November 2020, Dr. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, an eminent Iranian scientist and the head of the Organization of Innovation and Research of the Ministry of Defence, was assassinated in Absard, a suburb in east of Tehran. The terrorists used sophisticated weapons and complicated methods to carry out the ambush on Dr. Fakhrizadeh’s convoy. The meticulousness and complexity of the attack clearly demonstrates that the perpetrators were being either agents of or supported by a foreign state or a state-like entity. There is also ample evidence which strongly indicates that the Zionist regime of Israel was behind this terrorist act.In April 2018, B. Netanyahu specifically mentioned Dr. Fakhrizadeh’s name and asked audience to “remember that name, Fakhrizadeh”. As a part of a long series of fabricated stories and false allegations that he made during that presentation, he also said that Dr. Fakhrizadeh was the “mastermind” of the Iranian nuclear program. Similarly, other Israeli officials claimed that they had been tracking Dr. Fakhrizadeh for years and would continue to take necessary steps against Iran’s nuclear program. In fact, Israel was involved in other terrorist activities against Iranian peaceful nuclear program, including assassinations of several Iranian scientists, such as Prof. Massoud Ali-Mohammadi, Prof. Majid Shahriyari, Dr. Darioush RezaiNejad and Mr. Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan. It also made attempts to sabotage the Iranian nuclear program. Israel and the United States, for instance, jointly developed a malicious computer worm, later called Stuxnet, to attack the Iranian peaceful nuclear program. The attack caused damages to some control machineries and computer systems in the nuclear sites in Iran, but if had not been controlled in time, it could have seriously endangered the lives of thousands and thousands of innocent people and might have brought about a very long lasting damage to the environment, as well.In case of Dr. Fakhrizadeh, the footprints of Israel’s involvement was so all over the assassination that even the U.S. intelligence sources were reported to be stating that it was carried out by Israel. It is also argued that the attack is done at this juncture of time to hamper the future possibilities of diplomacy and talks. No matter what the intention was, this time, the Zionist regime of Israel has assassinated a distinguished scientist and a university professor, whose latest service to the Iranian people was the development of COVID-19 test kits as well as supervising a national project for the development of a COVID-19 vaccine. These were just a small part of his contributions to alleviate the pains and sufferings of a nation which is under the medical terrorism of the Israel’s closest ally, namely the United States. The assassination of Dr. Fakhrizadeh is a blatant violation of international law, a brazen blow to the universally recognized human right norms and a clear disregard to international rule of law. Although the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its rights to take all necessary measures to respond to the terrorist attack and any further wrongful acts, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and International law, including the right to self-defence, it is expected that all countries of the world, especially those like the Netherlands which claim promoting human rights, the rule of law and the fight against impunity, to step forward and to condemn this gross violation of international law and human rights law and to call, in an unequivocal terms, for the accountability of the perpetrators and culprits.
